Living in Maine, David Quinn and his friends were always forced to endure the harsh winter season. And with another cold winter underway, in December 1973, David decided that he wanted something to keep warm, so he crafted nine pairs of slippers for him and his friends that were made from ragg wool socks and a leather sole. Following his act of generosity, David found that his Acorn slippers could benefit the public, so he decided to produce his products to sell in stores. He was met with success throughout Maine, and in 1982 saw a pair of his signature slippers being worn by NASA astronauts. Following this wave of success, Acorn became the first company to offer colorful custom fleece sock designs. Today, Acorn still continues to manufacture high-quality products like socks, slippers, kids' booties, and much more that have no trouble enduring a winter season anywhere in the world.
