Started by The Mountaineers in 1960 as a means of relaying their serious dedication to enjoying the outdoors. Their first title was Mountaineering: the Freedom of the Hills , and it's still considered a classic and its ninth edition is on the market today in over twenty different languages. From their original title, Mountaineer Books has expanded to writing more guidebooks and continued to write books about areas from the Cascade Mountains to climbing areas in Thailand. Throughout the decades, Mountaineer Books has added 700 different titles to their list of offerings, and they've continued to be a great non-profit organization that's devoted to "inspiring a lifelong love for the great outdoors."
